Help Us Build Community Toolkits!
At No More Noise, our mission is to reduce harmful noise pollution through constructive policy engagement, objective data, and collaborative advocacy. While No More Noise actively bridges the gap between residents, City Hall, and local enforcement, we know that our community members need concrete, actionable, easy-to-use tools to address noise disruptions in their communities.
To support our members, we are actively building comprehensive Community Toolkits, and we want your input to help shape them!
What We Are Building
We are co-designing practical, targeted toolkits aimed at addressing specific noise sources across our communities such as:
Vehicle Noise: Addressing loud exhausts, revving engines, and automated enforcement options.
Amplified Sound: Managing venue noise, outdoor loudspeakers, and commercial outdoor sound.
Stationary Noise Sources: Tackling HVAC units, industrial equipment, and persistent mechanical noise. Our goal is to give you the tools, data and confidence to effectively address and advocate around the noise sources that affect you most, whether that’s leaf blowers, waste collection, construction or something else in your community.
Pathways for Every Level of Involvement
We recognize that community advocacy happens at different scales and with different comfort levels. Our toolkits will be structured so people can move through progressive levels of engagement. Starting as an individual taking action on their own, progressing to neighbourhood-level organizing, and growing into leadership roles to drive broader policy change.
Help Us Shape These Resources
To ensure these toolkits reflect real-world experiences and provide practical value, we are seeking residents and community advocates to collaborate with us on their development.
Examples of potential toolkit materials might include:
Online courses about noise and health, lobbying, and citizen science
A standardized slide deck for giving presentations to politicians
Email templates
Petition templates
An executive summary on the health impacts of noise
You will have choices on how to participate, such as:
Participating in Online Meetings: Join focused working sessions to share your insights on what materials would be useful to you, review drafts, and brainstorm solutions.
Answering Brief Surveys: Provide feedback on content and help us prioritize toolkit features.
Whether you have technical expertise, lived experience with local noise issues, or simply a passion for calmer, healthier neighbourhoods, your input will directly help shape the tools we create.
