tRacket Noise Sensors and community noise data

tRacket Noise Sensors: Community Noise

Data in Your Hands

The response to the tRacket Noise Sensor has been incredible.

Our first batch of sensors has moved quickly, showing just how many people are looking for a simple and accessible way to better understand the noise in their own environment.

Now, we're inviting anyone interested in a future batch to add their name to our tRacket Expression of Interest list.

What is a tRacket?

The tRacket is a small noise sensor designed to continuously measure sound levels in your surroundings.

Once installed outside your home and connected to power and Wi-Fi, the sensor collects sound-level data over time and sends the readings to a public online dashboard.

Importantly, tRacket measures decibel levels only. It does not record audio or conversations.

Instead, it gives people something that can be difficult to obtain when dealing with an ongoing noise problem: data.

Turning Noise Experiences Into Data

If you've ever been affected by persistent traffic, construction, mechanical equipment or another recurring noise source, you know how difficult it can be to communicate what you're experiencing.

A single measurement captures only one moment.

Continuous monitoring can help reveal patterns over hours, days and weeks, creating a clearer picture of what is happening in our communities.

That's where citizen science can make a difference.

When more people collect noise data, we can begin to see broader patterns, identify areas of concern and contribute objective information to conversations about our sound environments.

For No More Noise, community-generated data is an important part of our work. It helps us move the conversation beyond individual experiences and toward evidence that can support better policies, planning and enforcement.

Interested in the Next Batch?

The response to our initial tRacket offering has shown us there is real interest in accessible community noise monitoring.

As we work toward making more sensors available, we want to know how many people would be interested in participating in a future batch.

If you'd like a tRacket Noise Sensor, please add your name to our Expression of Interest form.

Your response will help us understand community demand and plan what comes next.

Together, we can continue building a clearer picture of noise in our communities and use data to advocate for healthier, calmer places to live.
